If you’re in the restaurant business, you know how many times a group of customers has asked you to split their bill. Have you had to start over with separate bills? Have you had to tell them “No”?
With PayXpress+ you can do this right on the POS, making life easier for you and your customers.
How to split a payment
You do not have to “enable” Split payments; it is always possible to split a payment when entering in a sales total, when using the Calculator or entering the amount to charge directly.
To split a payment:
Calculate or enter the total amount:
Instead of validating the amount as usual, tap “Split”:
Now tell us how you want to split the payment. It is not only possible to divide the payment into equal parts, it is also possible to factor in the number of people each cardholder wants to cover.
“Total number of persons in table”: First use the and buttons to tell us how many people are at the table
“Pay for how many people”: Then use the and buttons to tell us how many people the first partial payment will be for.
Tap “Validate”. Now the POS will display the Satisfaction survey and Tips screen, if enabled. Present the POS to the first paying customer. The customer should complete the Survey and tips page (if enabled), then present his or her card to the machine, enter his PIN if required, and print a receipt if desired:
The Split payment screen is updated once the first customer pays. Now it is time for the second customer to pay his or her part. Tap “Validate” and present the POS to the next paying customer.
Repeat until all customers have paid their parts and the total bill has been completely paid. At this point the Split payment screen will no longer appear, as there are no more payments to be made on the bill.
Each customer will have the option to print their individual ticket when paying for their part. You can print your merchant ticket at the end, once all customers have paid.
